Book Ely Log Cabin

DRIVEWAY: The dirt driveway is a bit bumpy and steep and icy in the winter. We recommend a high clearance and 4WD vehicle for winter.  

DRINKING WATER: Well water can taste funny and be more prone to minerals. We highly recommend filtering your water through the Berkey water filter provided before drinking. Alternatively, bring your own drinking water if you are particular about how your water tastes.

STAIRS: The stairs to the loft are not suited for children under 6 or folks with limited mobility or poor balance.  

HEAT: The cabin is heated by a propane fireplace. There is a thermostat to adjust the heat.  

SOLAR: The cabin is powered by the sun! When there is no sun for a long period of time (like overnight or on cloudy days), the propane generator turns on briefly to charge up the batteries.  

HOT WATER ON DEMAND: The hot water on demand can take a good 15 seconds to heat up for showers. Please be patient!

CHILDREN: Ely Log Cabin is not recommended for children under the age of 6. The stairs to the loft are very steep. The indoor fireplace is hot and not protected.

PETS: We are pet friendly! Pet fee is $50/dog (max of 2) and must be paid at time of booking. Your pet is not allowed on furniture or beds. They must be kenneled if you leave the cabin. If your pet causes any damage to the building or furniture, you will be responsible to pay for replacement or maintenance costs. This will come out of your $500 damage deposit. 

MINIMUM AGE: At least one guest, who will be at the cabin throughout the rental period, must be at least 21 years of age, or older. 

SECURITY DEPOSIT: There will be a $500 security deposit pre-authorized 24 hours prior to arrival and released 3 days after check-out (assuming no damages)

GUEST COUNT: The cabin can accommodate up to 6 people maximum

CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT TIME: Check-in time is 4:00 PM. Check-out time is 11:00am. 

SECURITY CAMERA: There is one security camera on the front of the cabin facing the driveway. This is for the safety of the cabin and our guests. It also helps us see when the cleaner and maintenance folks come since we are remote hosts. We do not keep track of guests coming and going during their stay. We have notifications turned off during stays.

NO SMOKING: No smoking of any kind, including cigarettes, marijuana, e-cigarettes. If it is found that any member of the rental party, or guest of the rental party, has smoked inside the cabin, your $500 security deposit will be forfeited.

OUTDOOR FIRE PIT: Please be aware that certain dry and windy conditions do not allow for outdoor fires. Check with St. Louis County DNR for current conditions.
